Los Padres National Forest

The 1.7 million-acre Los Padres National Forest frames Solvang and the Santa Ynez Valley with majestic sights. Take in scores of remarkable scenic vistas, reached by car or by easy-to-access trails on foot, bicycle, or horseback. Camping is allowed.

The sunny beaches and boutique shopping of Santa Barbara are only 45 minutes from La Purisima. Beach hangouts with great swimming, picnicking and community facilities include East Beach, Rincon Beach Park, Leadbetter Beach, Hendry’s Beach and Goleta Beach County Park.

Step into the past with remarkable displays of brands, guns, and Mission era artifacts. The Parks-Janeway Carriage House hosts a fine collection of carriages, wagons, carts, stagecoaches, and buggies.

Nojoqui Falls and Park

Ten minutes from Solvang, Nojoqui Park’s live oaks and sycamores surround large playing fields and picnic areas. The trail up to Nojoqui Falls is a delightful walk, where in summer you’ll find a refreshing gathering of moss rock, ferns and shade. In winter, fresh water falls from the cliffs into a natural pool.

Lake Cachuma

This pristine reservoir and nature lover’s Mecca is only 15 minutes from Solvang. Here you’ll see more than 250 species of birds such as migrating bald eagles. Take a cruise for a closer look at birds, deer, coyote, bobcat and mountain lion. Fishing, boating and camping are offered all year.
